The Tagua also known as the ivory seed or plant ivory is a seed of the palm tree which is found in the tropical rainforests of South America. In nature the Tagua is not unlike a walnut. It is almond shaped, coloured off-white, long and smooth,and has a similar feel to ivory. It represents a viable and sustainable alternative to the now forbidden ivory of elephants.
